Roof Renovation in Třebíč: Combining Metal Roof Tiles and Traditional Standing Seam Roofing
When renovating a roof, it is not always possible to use a single type of roofing material across all sections. Appearance is not the only important factor – the pitch of individual roof areas, the way they are connected, and the requirements for watertightness also play a crucial role.
A good example is our roof renovation project in Třebíč, where we combined two types of metal roofing from BILKA – BILKA Classic metal roof tiles and traditional standing seam roofing with a double standing seam.
BILKA Classic on the Main Roof Areas
The main sections of the roof were covered with BILKA Classic metal roof tiles. Their profile resembles traditional roof tiles while offering the advantages of modern metal roofing – particularly low weight and fast installation.
The low weight is a significant advantage during roof renovations, as it avoids placing unnecessary additional loads on the existing roof structure.

Why Did We Use Traditional Standing Seam Roofing on Part of the Roof?
Not all areas of this roof have the same pitch. Therefore, a different technical solution was required for sections with a low roof pitch.
As the roof pitch decreases, water drains more slowly and the requirements for the watertightness of the joints increase significantly. For this reason, it is not advisable to automatically use the same roofing material across the entire roof simply to achieve a uniform appearance.
The minimum roof pitch must always be assessed according to the specific roofing system and the manufacturer’s installation requirements. For BILKA Classic, the manufacturer specifies a minimum pitch of 8° without transverse joints and 14° where transverse joints are required.
For roof sections with an even lower pitch, we therefore used traditional standing seam roofing with a double standing seam.
Double Standing Seam for Low-Pitch Roofs
Traditional standing seam roofing is a proven sheet-metal roofing solution for roofs with a low pitch. Individual sheets are joined using mechanically formed double standing seams, creating highly watertight connections.
When correctly designed and professionally installed, standing seam roofing can therefore be used even on roofs with very low pitches. With the BILKA system, traditional standing seam roofing can be used from a pitch of approximately 3°, provided that the required installation technology is followed.
This is precisely why we selected this solution for the lower-pitched sections of the roof in Třebíč.
Two Types of Roofing on One Roof Can Be the Right Solution
This project clearly demonstrates that combining different types of roofing is not necessarily a compromise. On the contrary, from a technical perspective, it can be the best solution.
On the main roof areas, BILKA Classic allowed us to preserve the traditional appearance of a tiled roof. On the low-pitch sections, we used double standing seam roofing, which is better suited to the requirements for safe water drainage and watertightness in these areas.
With the correct choice of colour, material and sheet-metal detailing, both roofing systems can create a consistent and elegant appearance across the entire roof.
Proper Design Is Essential When Renovating a Roof
When replacing a roof covering, we therefore recommend considering more than just its price and appearance. It is important to inspect the roof structure, accurately determine the pitch of each roof area and select the appropriate roofing material for each section.
Particular attention should be paid to low-pitch areas, valleys, changes in roof pitch, penetrations and connections between individual sections of the roof.
