Laying a waterproofing membrane is a mandatory stage of the construction of any roof structure. Waterproofing protects the roof from moisture that can penetrate from the outside. At the same time, the membrane allows the water vapor that rises from the living quarters to ventilate freely. In this way, waterproofing membranes extend the service life of all components of the roof structure.
What is a superdiffusion roofing membrane?
Roofing membranes are fabrics made of "breathable" material. The structure of the membrane looks like a large number of microscopic holes. They provide the material with one-sided vapor permeability and moisture resistance.
Insulation function of the membrane in the roof
Thanks to the superdiffusion membrane and its properties, the entire sub-roof construction remains dry. It should be noted that even with a slight wetting of the mineral wool, its thermal insulation properties deteriorate significantly. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid contact of the thermal insulation with moisture. It appears as a result of condensation, which is formed by:
- the vapors that are formed by the people living in the house or building;
- atmospheric precipitation;
- residential activities such as cooking and others;
- sudden temperature changes.
Hydrobarrier roofing membranes and vapor barrier are used for double-sided protection of mineral wool from water. The vapor barrier is installed under the mineral wool. Its function is to protect against moisture vapors coming from inside the room and the formation of condensation. The water barrier is installed above the thermal insulation and isolates it from atmospheric water, dust, etc.
