The folded roof covering is one of the most reliable and durable roofing solutions ever created. Its uniqueness lies in the technology using folding seams that ensure tight joints. The installation of the material is carried out using a special technology called hidden assembly, in which no screws or nails are visible on the roof. A professionally executed double-folded roof will provide you with a long service life and reliability, regardless of the complexity of the structure.

The double-groove folded roof covering is characterized by the possibility of using different materials and designs of individual panels. The roof can be covered using traditional technology - in rows extending to the eaves - or using various shapes, such as tiles or slates. For this purpose, various methods of panel assembly are used, which not only ensure high tightness, but also create an original design solution for the roof of your house. This type of roof allows you to build reliable roofs even with very complex shapes. In addition to residential buildings, a folded roof is also used to create spherical domes, which are typical for churches, monasteries or gazebos.

Advantages of a folded roof covering

  • Versatile - it is suitable for objects of various purposes.
  • Absolute tightness of seams and the absence of through holes on the surface of the sheets, which increases the durability of the roof.
  • Long service life, reaching 50 years or more.
  • A lightweight roof that allows you to avoid expensive structures of supporting beams, and also reduces the load on the foundation and supporting structure.
  • A wide selection of materials, shapes, colors and surface finishes of the material.
  • Possibility of installation on roofs of any slope, the minimum slope is 3%.
  • A reliable and long-term solution for every region in the Czech Republic, regardless of climatic conditions.
  • Reasonable price and high quality of the final product.
  • Reliability and warranty of the material itself.

Disadvantages of a folded roof

The disadvantages of a folded roof are its complex construction, which requires installation by roofing specialists, since it is difficult to build such a roof on your own without the necessary special tools and without knowledge of the construction of such a roof and experience in its installation. Other disadvantages are the tendency to thermal expansion and noise. Hiring specialists will help you avoid and minimize noise from such a roof. To prevent this, a special soundproofing membrane is mounted on the roofing. To eliminate sagging caused by thermal expansion, special fasteners for folded roofs are used, which are called movable clips.

Types of materials used in the construction of folded roofs:

  • Steel
  • Galvanized stainless steel
  • Copper
  • Aluminum
  • Zinc and titanium
  • Modern steel with a polymer coating

The thickness of the metal depends on its type. Steel sheets have a thickness of 0.45 mm, 0.5 mm and 0.6 mm. Copper sheets have a thickness of 0.6 mm. During the production of panels, the sheets are cut along the specified dimensions, then covered with a protective layer and sent to a bending machine to form the upper and lower edges of the seams. The result of the production cycle is individual sheets with connecting latches on the edges. The surface of individual sheets can be smooth, matte or a luxurious option - grande mat. Particles are added to the polymer coating that increase the resistance of the metal to ultraviolet radiation.

The most expensive roofs are made of copper or zinc-titanium. The copper coating is characterized by high corrosion resistance, long service life and attractive appearance. The high plasticity of copper allows you to create any complex roof structure. Zinc-titanium materials have the ability to regenerate. Small scratches on this type of folded roof are quickly restored. If installed correctly, such a roof will serve its owners for a very long time.

Roofs of the middle price category. These include roofs made of aluminum and stainless steel. Aluminum coating has low weight, high plasticity and functionality. The only drawback of this roofing material is its low mechanical strength.

Budget options include steel and iron covering with galvanized or polymer coating. The service life of such a folded roof is 50 years or more, provided that the installation is carried out by professional roofers.

Types of seam joints. Metal sheets are divided according to the type of locking joint, which determines the reliability and tightness of the formed seam.

Retro Klick panels roof is the simplest variant of a folded roof, in which the seam is prepared in advance at the factory. Installation is easy and quick, for its implementation you only need a screwdriver, metal shears and flat pliers. The disadvantage of this type of seam roofing is that it requires a roof pitch of at least 12 degrees or more.

  • Single seam. This type of seam roofing can be used on roofs with a pitch of more than 10 degrees. The connection seam is simple and does not provide maximum waterproofing. Installation is faster than double seam, as it is only folded once. It can be either lying or standing, with the standing seam used along the panels and the lying seam when they are joined crosswise.
  • Double L-seam.This type of joint is considered the most reliable for pitched roofs. A professional set of tools is required for its installation. The minimum slope for installing a double rebate is 3 degrees.
  • Double wide rebate. This type is not much different from the L-rebate. The only difference is that battens are used to form the edge where the connection is made. It can be used on roofs with a slope of 3 degrees and more.

Tools for installing a rebated roof. The tools needed for installing a rebated roof are manual, semi-automatic and mechanical. The laying of individual sheets is carried out using a special sheet bender and bending tools. The main tool is a bender, which forms the metal and prepares the panels for installation. This machine is used to speed up installation and protect the finished panels from deformation during lifting. Working with this machine requires qualifications and experience. The machine is expensive and is used by companies specializing in the construction of rebated roofs.

In addition, you will also need a set of roofing tools that are used when installing a double-groove corrugated roofing:

  • Hammer
  • Frame
  • Slug
  • Straight pliers
  • Angle pliers
  • Corrugated frames
  • Metal shears that allow cutting at different angles
  • A set of metal shears with different cutting angles

Tools for deflecting eaves, gables and other components.

The cost of purchasing a complete set of tools for installing a double-groove roofing exceeds the price of the roofing material itself. In addition, certain skills and knowledge are required to use these tools. Therefore, we recommend that you contact professionals who will give you practical advice on installing a double-groove roofing.

Construction of a double-groove structure. The installation of a wooden structure begins with the laying of beams, the size of which depends on the project of the building and the dimensions of the corresponding slopes. Individual beams are laid at a distance of 59-100 cm from each other, on which a waterproofing membrane is necessarily placed to remove moisture. This membrane also allows air circulation and prevents condensation in the attic space. The membrane is attached with special metal clips and is installed from the bottom up, parallel to the eaves. The membrane should not have folds and should be laid loosely, with a minimum distance of 150 mm for better moisture drainage. It is attached using a stapler and counter battens (3 cm x 5 cm) and construction battens (10 cm x 2.5 cm) are installed on it, which are attached with screws (10 cm by 0.5 cm). The distance between the individual battens is selected according to the slope of the roof - the smaller the slope, the smaller the distance between the battens. When building a solid wooden covering, the gaps between the battens must be at least 1 cm to avoid disruption of air circulation. After completing the double structure according to the technology, individual rebated sheets are installed on the battens.

Laying a folded roofing with a double groove. When laying individual sheets of a double fold, it is important to know how to properly attach them to the double structure. To attach individual sheets of a double fold, movable clips are used, which allow for easy movement of the sheets during thermal expansion due to heat. The clips are mounted with a screw only at one end to the battens, the other end is bent onto the sheets of the double fold. Bending the double fold is carried out using special machines or tools.

Professional installation of a folded roofing with a double groove. Double-pitched roof is, of course, the most durable and reliable roof, but the process of its installation is long and complicated. Homeowners are increasingly preferring this type of roofing, thanks to which the roof is practically invulnerable to any climatic conditions for many years.

Only specialists working with metal can correctly and technologically install a double-pitched roof. Therefore, it is important to choose a reliable and professional supplier who has responsible experts. In addition to selling materials in Prague, Brno and throughout the Czech Republic, our company also carries out repairs of old and new roof structures.
